The New England Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is looking for a few Maine members with energy and a commitment to the future of hunting and fishing. Are you willing to donate some time and “give back” to the land, waters, and wildlife that we all love? If so, we are recruiting members to our State Leadership Team to help promote BHA’s mission in Maine.
The State Leadership Team is the core group of members that specializes in various tasks to promote BHA in Maine.
Specifically, we need help with the following positions:
Event Coordinator. Coordinate the development of an event program for the year with other team leaders, event organizers, BHA members, and chapter partners. Events may include how-to workshops, public lands stewardship projects, films, pint nights, and other activities. (All team leaders are expected to be the lead organizer for at least one event.)
Public Lands Stewardship Coordinator. Work with state and federal agencies and private conservation groups that allow hunting and fishing access to plan public land/public access stewardship projects where BHA volunteers can be of assistance.
Education Coordinator. Work with expert BHA members and potential partners (for example, National Wild Turkey Federation, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and others) to develop educational workshops for members and the public, and link new hunters or anglers with mentors.
State Policy Coordinator. Track legislative and state agency activities and work with other chapter leaders to develop and communicate BHA positions on issues.
Communications Coordinator. Lead the effort to communicate BHA’s activities in Maine through our social media channels, email, Backcountry Journal, and other outlets.
Time commitment is variable, but generally involves a monthly virtual meeting, communicating with other team members via BHA’s Basecamp online platform, and time to work on tasks specific to your role on the team.
