Once overly abundant throughout Kentucky, black bears were eliminated by the early 1900's. However, through the increase of habitat structures, bears have found their way back from neighboring states and now the Kentucky black bear population continues to quickly grow with ranges expanding every year. This increase of bears has allowed Kentucky residents an opportunity to hunt bears for a few years now!
