In a state where land is largely held in private hands, the Iowa chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers believes that publicly held lands are treasured places that provide the state’s outdoorsmen with a chance to embrace the outdoor experience. This land provides some of the best whitetail habitat in the world, as well as habitat for pheasants and waterfowl in the middle of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. Iowa’s rivers, lakes, and streams support healthy populations of sportfish that create opportunities for Iowa’s anglers.

Our chapter mission is to protect and enhance Iowa’s existing public lands while expanding opportunities for hunters and anglers within the state. The future of Iowa’s outdoor heritage not only depends on the preservation of public lands and the opportunities they create but opening the eyes of new hunters and anglers to these opportunities. Hunter and angler recruitment, retention and reactivation will bolster advocacy for the conservation and growth of Iowa’s public lands and the species that inhabit them. Through increased advocacy and cooperation with state officials and private landowners our chapter seeks to expand the opportunities for Iowa’s hunters and anglers. Join us now to make the Iowa Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers stronger and more effective!
