Who: Any veterans, active duty, guard , reservists, and families interested
What: Prune and maintain a wild apple orchard
When: 2 Mar, 0900-1300
Where: Hubbardton Battlefield WMA, meeting location is the monument then walking to the orchard
Why: Prune more than 70 apple trees to maintain the health and vigor of the trees to produce food for wildlife.
Hubbardton Battlefield was the only revolutionary battle to take place on Vermont soil and was an instrumental battle that led to the victory in the battle of Bennington and eventually Saratoga.
We will be meeting in the parking lot of the Hubbardton Battlefield monument at 9 am than walking across the street and field to adjacent hill where the apple trees are. If you have one bring a handsaw and or shears to prune dead and diseased apple tree branches. We will be cooking up burgers and chips to thanks those that help out.
