event_description: RSVP HERE!At 82 miles of single track awesomeness, the HighCountry Pathway (HCP)is Michigan’s longest trail loop, crossing through three counties and a wide range of habitat types and backcountry topography. Its open to hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers, cross country skiers and snowshoers. It’s used also year round by trout anglers, hunters, foragers and nature lovers. It’s not uncommon to have the trail to yourself for hours or even days at a time.Yet, despite all of the user groups who use and love the HCP, its in need of some serious trail maintenance: branch/brush clearing, log clearance, GPS’ing boardwalk/bridge locations, etc.THE BATTLE PLANThe HighCountry pathway (HCP) is in need of some serious maintenance. The Friends of the Pigeon is partnering up with several local trail user groups and conservation organizations to get the HCP back in top shape on 5/4/19! This is going to be an incredible day of trail maintenance as we hope to cover the entire trail in a single day. Yeah, you read that right– 82 miles in one day.Thats crazy! What are we thinking? How the heck are we going to do that?Teamwork! Hikers, mountain bikers, hunters, anglers, nature lovers and other trail lovers coming together to get the job done. Many hands make light work, so we’ll be breaking the entire HCP up into short, manageable beats and assigning volunteers to each. After, all of the clubs and organizations involved will be hosting a cookout for all of the volunteers to refuel and celebrate what we’ve accomplished!RSVP HERE!
