event_description: The Pennsylvania Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) are teaming up again this year to work on some stream improvement projects in the Allegheny National Forest (ANF).The first workday this year will be on Bear Creek and Lamentation Run near Marienville, PA on March 8th, 2024. The work will consist of physically moving felled trees and brush into the stream. The improvement project will restore a natural density of woody materials to the stream, increasing in-stream cover, developing more deeper pools, and encourage a more frequent floodplain-channel interactions. Enhancing the natural habitat of not only fish, but every other native species you can think of.What to Bring: Folks should dress for the weather, including wading or knee-high muck boots, and be prepared for periods of significant physical labor, hiking over rough/uneven terrain, and carrying loads of approximately 50lbs while utilizing a series of hand tools.
