Get Ready! Hike to Hunt Is Almost Here!

Hike to Hunt is just around the corner. For those of you not familiar with it, BHA puts on a Hike to Hunt contest yearly to promote people getting out and hiking on our public lands, all the while getting in shape for the upcoming  hunting season. This year it will run from June 1 to July 31. Under Armor was generous enough to provide tracking for Hike to Hunt through their Map My Hike app. Anyone that signs up is eligible for random prize drawings. The top contenders across BHA will also be in the running for prize packages. Keep an eye out in your email for more info from BHA with the official rules and signup link.

The Southeast Chapter would love for all of our members to participate. It's a great way to stay outdoors in the off season. We have a Southeast Chapter Hike to Hunt Facebook group. Please join up, participate in any hikes that you can, organize a hike on your own, or post your hikes to motivate your fellow Public Land Owners. We encourage you to stir up a little friendly competition as well.

One of the great things about Hike to Hunt is that it renews your BHA membership for another year. To encourage renewal, Stone Glacier has generously donated one of their Avail packs. If you're already a member, consider joining the Hike to Hunt challenge to renew your membership, and have a shot at one of the great prizes we have to offer. Last year we awarded some pretty nice prizes to the 3 Southeast Chapter members with the most miles logged. This year we intend to do the same. To enter the Southeast Chapter Challenge, you must be registered in the BHA Hike to Hunt Challenge. Once you join the challenge, join our Southeast Chapter Hike to Hunt Facebook group. At the end of July all participants will post their final results, in a form of a screenshot from the Under Armor app, to the Facebook group, to Instagram (be sure to tag @BHASoutheast), or to our email ([email protected]). We'll pick the top 3 participants and reward them for their hard work and effort toward getting into shape for the upcoming season.

Following the success of our Gobblers and Garbage campaign, we would like to encourage Hike to Hunt participants to pick up trash as they rack up the miles. We will be giving away a Yeti Hopper to a random participant that picks up trash on a hike. Any time you hike on public land, take a few plastic grocery bags with you. Each bag filled will get you one entry for the Yeti cooler. Entry will be easy. Post up your hike on the Facebook group above, tag us on Instagram, or email us a screenshot from the Under Armor Map my Hike app. Include the amount of trash collected and where the trash was collected. At the end of the contest we will randomly select one person that gathered trash to be the winner of a 30 quart Yeti Hopper.

This year's prizes are:

1st- Stone Glacier Avail pack

2nd- 40 quart Yeti Hopper

3rd- BHA shirt or hat of your choice

Trash pickup random winner- 30 quart Yeti Hopper
