
Open Board Positions
The New Mexico Chapter of BHA is currently looking to fill open Board positions! Please read about the open position descriptions below. All applicants must be a current member in good standing with BHA, a New Mexico resident, willing to serve a three-year term, and attend monthly Board meetings when able. All seats have terms of 3 years and require attendance at monthly board calls in addition to 2-4 hours of investment per week.

Communications Chair - voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment: 2-4 hours depending on scheduled events
The Communications Chair develops and deploys communications regularly to highlight BHA initiatives, upcoming events, educate the hunt/fish community on policy priorities and inspire advocacy, celebrate key achievements, attract new members, share volunteer opportunities and generally elevate the BHA mission. They work with the Chapter Board and Coordinator to amplify chapter work by deploying newsletters, submitting chapter news and long-form stories for the BHA journal, and submitting blogs from their chapter or members. They will act as editor for most, if not all, written communications including blogs, statement letters, LTE’s, Op-eds, social posts, newsletters, and journal content. In some cases, the Communications Chair may be asked to contribute to and deploy more comprehensive communication plans to advance priority issues.
Social Media Manager - voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment: 2-3 hours dependent on chapter needs
The Social Media Manager develops and publishes compelling original content covering chapter work (including posts, videos, etc.) and shares content and promotions provided by BHA HQ. They work closely with the Communications Chair to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels. The Social Media Manager will continue building and engaging with our growing online community, including responding to or flagging comments and fostering connections between the chapter and new contacts. Useful skills for this role are a passion for and understanding of hunting, fishing, and conservation in the State, an understanding of social media management, current trends, and platforms, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Events Chair - voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment: 2-5 hours depending on scheduled events.
The Events Chair is responsible for organizing or assisting Chapter Leaders with chapter events that align with chapter and organizational goals including community building, attracting corporate sponsors and new members, elevating BHA’s presence as a key hunt/fish stakeholder, advancing policy priorities and grassroots capacity building, and raising funds to support our work. The Event Chair may lead a volunteer team or committee, assigns event related tasks, manages logistics and budget, help secure appropriate venues, builds partnerships, develops ticket pricing structure, and assists with the deelopment of promotional content. This volunteer also ensures that tabling items, merchandise, and membership information are distributed to other volunteers or locations as needed. The person in this role coordinates with the Chapter Board and Chapter Coordinator to ensure all events are well planned, properly promoted, and ultimately create a net positive impact for the chapter and attendees.
Fundraising Chair- voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment: 2-5 hours depending on scheduled events.
The Fundraising Chair develops and implements revenue generating activities either as stand-alone fundraisers or as a complement to other chapter efforts with board and volunteer support. The person in this role will work closely with the Events Chair to help generate funds on an annual basis to fuel reinvestment in the BHA mission at a local and North American level. The Fundraising Chair works closely with the Chapter Board and Executive Committee to set annual fundraising goals and pinpoint initiatives for strategic and visible investments that encourage future giving.
