Nevada AFI is hosting a stewardship event to clean up the Sawmill Trailhead!
Why You Should Want to Attend:
The Armed Forces Initiative is the BHA program focused on creating conservationists within the military community. Nevada AFI is hosting a cleanup at the Sawmill Trailhead in the Spring Mountains, just northwest of Las Vegas.
What is it:
This stewardship event is a coordinated effort to ensure the cleanliness of our shared outdoor spaces within the Greater Spring Mountain Recreation Area. Participants will work together to ensure the trail, trailhead and just off trail spaces are clean, free of debris and absent of human litter. This effort helps ensure the safety and security of the habitat for our regional wildlife, further securing the site for generations to come.
Attendees can expect to:
- Remove debris and trash
- Learn basic wilderness safety
- Tenets of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation
- How becoming a conservationist is a natural fit for the military community
- and more
When is it:
Saturday, November 8th 9AM - 12PM
Where is it:
Sawmill Dayuse Loop A Rd
Las Vegas, NV 89166
Who can attend:
- This event is open to all members of the military community
(Active duty, Reserves, National Guard, Veterans, and Gold Star families)
and anyone looking to support the military community and conservation!
- You do not need to be a BHA member to attend
(but we sure would appreciate it if you were)
***Attendees should dress appropriately, please bring some work gloves***
In the event of mountainous snowfall, please do not attempt to drive through it. Return to your home and the event will be rescheduled.
