Join the Minnesota Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers at the Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant in Ely, MN to kick off the deer season! This is a chance to gather with fellow Boundary Waters area hunters and learn about the deer, bear and birds in our area and what BHA does to protect public hunting access, conserve our wildlife and wild places, introduce newcomers to hunting and fishing, and carry on those traditions for generations to come.
This event is free to attend and open to the public, so invite your friends, family, coworkers, and hunting buddies. Join in this fun-filled, educational night and share the stoke for the deer season with hunting stories, tips, and wild game recipes with like-minded outdoorsmen and women!
For this event, local DNR Area Wildlife Manager Jessica Holmes will demonstrate how to remove whitetail deer lymph nodes (on a real deer carcass) and send those samples in for CWD testing. We will be providing test kits to anyone that wants to send those samples in for testing this season.
