Eastern Regional Board Member

Eastern Regional Board Member (Billings/Miles City/NE Montana)

Regional board members are located in areas where we have high concentration of members. Our Eastern Board Member is expected to live in eastern Montana. These regional board member positions will serve to oversee and foster engagement in their areas in the following ways, either by they themselves doing them, by working with other Chapter Board Members, or by tapping into other BHA members in the area:

  1. Ensure that local BHA-priority conservation issues in the area are being addressed
  2. Ensure that federal-level conservation issues and BHA campaigns are being shared and promoted in the area
  3. Ensure that at least one (1) stewardship event per year is conducted by BHA members in the area
  4. Ensure that at least one (1) fundraising event per year is conducted by BHA members in the area

These positions are strongly encouraged to host quarterly (or semi-annually) regional in-person or virtual meetings and/or simply communicate digitally with BHA advocates and members in their areas, thereby developing relationships with members, identifying willing and able volunteers and strengthening the leadership pipeline and depth of the Montana Chapter in the process.

Each Regional Board Member is tasked with securing at least one (1) state-based corporate partner from their respective area per year. Additionally, each regional position is asked to provide one (1) piece of social media content per month related to Montana BHA’s mission.

Members of the Chapter Board shall be conservation-minded individuals who will commit to actively uphold our hunting and fishing heritage and the ecological health of our wild public lands, waters and wildlife. Board members can expect to pledge a minimum of 10 hours / month toward BHA activities with some larger events (such as North American Rendezvous, Montana state legislative session or regional events) requiring more substantial short term time commitments. Chapter Officers must be at least 18 years of age and active members of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers. Board terms are three years. All Chapter Board Members shall act in good faith and in a manner that the Chapter Board Member believes to be in the best interest of BHA and consistent with BHA’s mission and priorities. All Chapter Board Members shall sign a Chapter Leader Service Agreement that includes a conflict of interest disclosure, position description, privacy policy and code of conduct. Candidates will be reviewed by MT BHA's Executive Committee before a two-thirds Board vote is required for final approval.

Send a resume and a letter of interest outlining your conservation involvement, skillset and familiarity with Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and the work we do in Montana. Please include any relevant experiences - either paid or volunteer - as well.

Please email your application materials to [email protected] with subject line "Eastern Board Member" by June 31st. Our Executive Committee will review applications and get back to you.
