Colorado AFI in a collaboration with the Royal Gorge Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invites all BHA members to join us for this workshop. The BLM will provide a fence mapping field training and Colorado AFI will provide a class on scouting for turkeys.
BLM training: knowledge/skills to use your mapping app to help the BLM collect fence data on public lands. After class, we will disperse across the BLM’s Deer Haven unit to practice our new skills. After the event you will have the ability to volunteer to help map fences for the Royal Gorge Field Office any time you are out on the landscape training and scouting for your future hunts.
Goal of mapping and collecting the fence data: to help the BLM inventory fences on properties they manage. The data collected will be used to aid future fence removal and modification projects aimed at improving wildlife habitat and connectivity.
BHA training: skills for scouting turkeys that you will be able to employ while you are out mapping fence lines to map at Deer Haven. We will be in ponderosa pine woodlands that provide important habitat for turkey, deer, elk, and many other wildlife species and an immediate opportunity to practice the new skills we will be teaching.
Colorado AFI will provide a lunch after we all return from mapping and scouting.
