event_description: Join Montana BHA as we improve 3 miles of trail near the popular Carpp Lake in the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest near Philipsburg. This is the second year we have improved trail along this route and were looking forward to making Carpp Lake, Hiline and Tamarack Trails a little better for hunters, anglers and hikers alike! Volunteers must be able to backpack about 3 miles and complete moderate to strenuous work, including clearing vegetation from the trail corridor, removing loose rock, repairing damaged trail tread, and cleaning drainage structures.Volunteers should expect join us from 9am on Friday, August 18 to midafternoon Sunday, August 20. We will hike into the wilderness on Friday with support from a USFS pack string and work from a backcountry camp. MTBHA will provide the tools, safety equipment, all meals (including a dehydrated meal from our partners at Gastrognome), and guidance to get the work done. Volunteers should bring and expect to carry their own sleeping gear, work clothing, a water bottle, and personal necessities. There will be free time in the evenings to explore the surrounding trails and streams, fish for Westslope Cutthroat Trout in Carpp Lake or admire sunset views of Warren Peak, so we encourage you to bring a fishing rod, binoculars, and anything else you need to enjoy a weekend in wilderness. We are currently at capacity for this project and all RSVPs will be added to the waitlist. If someone is unable to attend, we will reach out to you via email to fill the spot.
