Getting started hunting public land can be intimidating. What are the rules? Where can I go? What are the ethics? Where do I even start???
We are going to help answer all those questions by finding post season deer sign, while also identifying turkey sign, so that your next hunt can be a successful hunt.
We will meet across the road from the dam maintenance building, then split in two groups of 5 traveling about 20 minutes to our scouting locations. Then meet back up around noon for lunch and a tailgate turkey talk with AGFC Turkey Biologist Jeremy Wood. Please wear appropriate clothing for hiking through brush, bring your lunch and drinks, and have OnX downloaded on your phone, as we will using that mapping service. There are no restrooms facilities, but we can give privacy when needed.
Sign up is limited to 10 new or curious to hunting, hunters.
We will meet at the parking area across from the dam maintenance building and can car pool from there.
