MISSOULA, Mont. – Following today’s breakdown of congressional budget negotiations that triggered the start of a government shutdown at midnight tonight, BHA President and CEO Land Tawney issued the following response:
“Our public lands and waters and the critters that inhabit them rely on the stewardship of our federal land managers. The expertise, energy and commitment they bring to their work each and every day is undeniable as well as hugely impactful.
"During this holiday season, we at Backcountry Hunters & Anglers raise a glass to these dedicated individuals. We urge President Trump and members of Congress to redouble their efforts to reach consensus on a budget agreement to fund the federal government, thereby supporting federal workers, our public lands and waters, the fish and wildlife that inhabit them and our fishing and hunting opportunities.”
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the voice
for our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.
