We're stepping it up this week with an Elk Hair Caddis. This dry fly imitates the general form of adult caddisflies or small stoneflies and is primarily used for catching trout.
Elk Hair Caddis Materials List:
Hook: Wide-gap dry-fly hook, sizes 10-18 (Hannah will be using a size 10)
Thread: Brown or tan, 6/0 or 140 denier
Rib: Fine gold wire
Hackle: Brown or tan
Body: Fine dubbing, color to match the naturals (cream or tan)
Wing: Elk or deer hair
Tools List: Vise, bobbin, scissors, whipfinish (or hands), hair stacker (or jewelry box top).
