Learn to e-scout with OnX, rod & reel selection, knots, fly presentation, casting techniques, dry fly/dropper/nymphing, catch & release techniques, wading techniques, fishing from a drift boat, backcountry medicine, fly tying, and display considerations.
Increase your awareness of the history of public lands, how public lands and wildlife are managed, how public lands and wildlife management are funded, how the legislative process works, how to engage with legislators and policy influencers, current military and public land legislation and policy issues.
North Carolina Backcountry Hunters & Anglers invites you to apply for a Dual Skills Camp, intended to build public land and water advocates, provide public policy knowledge, and tactile and cerebral skills development during an immersive fly fishing camp in Western North Carolina.
Attendees can expect to learn:
- rod/reel selection
- knots
- presentation and casting techniques
- catch and release techniques
- local public land management
- and more...
When is it:
Camp will run from the evening of May 23, 2024 until noon on May 27th
Where is it:
Western North Carolina
Who can attend:
- 12 people maximum capacity. Please fill out the application at the link in the RSVP confirmation email you receive
- This event is open to all members of the military community to participate in
* If you would like to volunteer as a mentor or camp assistant you need not be a member of the military community, all are welcome*
(Active duty, Reserves, National Guard, Veterans, and Gold Star families)
- You do not need to be a BHA member to attend
(but we sure would appreciate it if you were)
