Welcome to the AK Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers

Alaska BHA is a community of hunters, anglers, and public lands advocates working to protect Alaska’s wild public lands, waters, and wildlife. We stand for fair chase, responsible access, and the backcountry traditions that define our state. Through education, advocacy, and stewardship, we champion ethical, science-based management and work to maintain opportunities for hunting, fishing, trapping, and quiet exploration in wild, remote places.

From the tip of the Panhandle to the shores of the Arctic Ocean, Alaska holds over 220 million acres of federal public lands and nearly 100 million acres of state landThese vast tracts provide unparalleled opportunities for adventure, challenge, and connection with the natural world — and with them come the responsibility to ensure that Alaska’s outdoor traditions endure.

As a Chapter, we recognize what makes Alaska truly unique. Our volunteer Board is dedicated to building strong, diverse coalitions across the state’s regions and communities, learning from and engaging with our members and supporters.

At our core, we are a grassroots, volunteer-drive organization committed to standing up for Alaska’s wild public lands, waters, and wildlife. We work to maintain access, promote ethical and informed land use, and promote the backcountry experience that defines who we are as Alaskans.
