Thank you to everyone who submitted a comment on the Gooseberry Creek/ Narrows Reservoir Project. BHA Utah, along with several local partners Trout Unlimited, Utah Rivers Council, and Western Rivers Flyfisher, are excited to report that the Bureau of Reclamation's Final Environmental Impact Statement (BORs FEIS) "did not have the information necessary to make a permit decision." Consequently, "the permit application has been administratively withdrawn pending the issuance of a draft supplemental EIS" states the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Furthermore, Utah/Nevada Corps Chief Jason Gipson writes "the project's purpose and need remain unclear and problematic."
If you don't think your voice or participation counts when it comes to affecting local change, think again. Utah hunters, anglers, hikers, foodies, and outdoorsmen and women are finding common ground in the fight to protect our public lands and water forever. The assault on fish and wildlife habitat is real; just check out what the Sanpete Water Conservancy District has planned for the region. If you want to become more active in the effort to defend our public lands and waters, email BHA Utah to learn how to get involved.
