Utah Regional Advisory Council (RAC) Engagement - November 2023

In the November Regional Advisory Council (RAC) meeting agenda, we saw various proposals from the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) emerge for public comment, some of which directly relate to BHA core issues, including hunter opportunity and access. WI Sharptail grouse comment period OPEN

    Sharptail grouse hunting was once as much a mark of autumn as the family hunting camp in the North Woods. Men, women, children and dogs would take to the pine barrens in pursuit of "Wisconsin's other grouse". In recent years however the grouse hunting permits have not been issued by the State DNR citing declining populations and habitat. Edwards Creek Project Update

On October 21, BHA Nevada Chapter volunteers assisted NDOW staff in a vital project to restore fencing around the springs that feed Edwards Creek, which provides water and critical riparian habitat for the northeast area of Nevada's Desatoya Mountains. The project involved removing old posts and barbwire, and constructing 3-rail Bison fencing around the site, which still contained legacy chokecherry, alders, and native brush.
