The Wayne National Forest is currently in the process of revising its Forest Plan that has been in place since 2006. Now in the assessment phase, the Forest Service is soliciting input from partners, stakeholders, and the public on how things have changed since the 2006 Plan was adopted. These changes may include, but are not limited to: changes in recreation, shifting forest conditions, different land uses and pressures on the National Forest, and more. Ohio Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is firmly engaged in the process and commits to staying active through the assessment phase, into the plan development phase, and through to omplementation. U.S. Forest Service lands are managed under a multiple-use paradigm. While the multitude of considerations is complex, that complexity is also what makes our National Forests so vitally important to each and every public land owner. From timber production to recreation opportunities, wildlife habitat for game and non-game species to mineral exploration and development, and yes — especially the backcountry of wild things and places, the Wayne National Forest is a rich and nuanced landscape that comprises a large proportion of Ohio's overall public land footprint.  It is for all those reasons and more that Ohio Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is committed to the entire process of assisting in the development of the next Forest Plan.
