Jonathan Lucas, Habitat Stewardship Coordinator

Jonathan Lucas lives in Boise, Idaho, with his wife, and their dog, Mayfly. He grew up in Ohio, where family camping and fishing trips sparked his love for the outdoors, but his heart was always drawn to the wide-open landscapes of the West. When he and his wife discovered Idaho, they knew they had found their home. Together, they spend summers camping, backpacking, fishing, and rafting across Idaho’s vast public lands.

A passionate cook and forager, Jonathan saw hunting as a natural next step in connecting with his food and the land. Today, his springs are spent in the turkey woods with friends, and his autumns begin with early mornings in search of deer and elk.

For most of his career, Jonathan has worked in the sciences, most recently working for government agencies to map plant species and document sensitive habitats on public lands. With a master’s degree in Restoration Ecology and Habitat Management from the University of Idaho, he’s ready to bring his skills, passion, and experience to his new role on the Habitat Stewardship team.
