Jack Polentes, BHA's Policy & Government Relations Senior Manager, grew up in eastern Pennsylvania exploring the Pocono Mountains, Adirondacks and salt marshes of southern New Jersey. A lifelong nature enthusiast and former backpacking guide, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Geoscience—leading geology fieldwork across upstate New York—and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Metrology, where his research focused on geochemistry.
Jack’s career has centered on government relations in both the private sector and federal service, advancing issues related to fisheries management, habitat conservation and more with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Now based in Washington, D.C., Jack enjoys working with diverse coalitions to strengthen public lands protections and spending his free time camping throughout Appalachia.
