Communications Chair - voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment: 2-4 hours
The Communications Chair develops and deploys communications regularly to highlight BHA initiatives, upcoming events, educate the hunt/fish community on policy priorities and inspire advocacy, celebrate key achievements, attract new members, retain current and former members, share volunteer opportunities and generally elevate the BHA mission. They work with the Chapter Board and Coordinator to amplify chapter and HQ work by being a point of contact for members and managing membership lists, deploying newsletters, posting on social media, submitting chapter news and long-form stories for the BHA journal, and submitting blogs from their chapter or members. They will act as editor for most, if not all, written communications including blogs, statement letters, LTE’s, Op-eds, social posts, newsletters, and journal content. In some cases, the Communications Chair may be asked to contribute to and deploy more comprehensive communication plans to advance priority issues.
Stewardship Chair - voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment: 2-4 hours
The Stewardship Chair works directly with the Chapter Board and HQ Stewardship staff to coordinate and implement stewardship projects to advance the improvement of wildlife, habitat, public access, hunter/angler ethics and public education. The person in this role may also work closely with BHA Stewardship Staff and Coordinators to execute priority grants in the state. Additionally, they may coordinate state-based projects to advance our mission, amplify financial investments, and develop relationships with agency partners, NGO’s and community members. They work to recruit and train volunteers to carry out our boots-on-the-ground priorities in accordance with BHA Stewardship Program Procedures. They prioritize creating a welcoming environment for a diverse range of participants and seek to capture images, metrics and stories from the field that can be used to quantify and elevate our stewardship impact.
Events Chair - voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment: 2-4 hours depending on scheduled events
The Events Chair is responsible for organizing and executing chapter events that align with chapter and organizational goals including community building, attracting corporate sponsors and new members, elevating BHA’s presence as a key hunt/fish stakeholder, advancing policy priorities and grassroots capacity building, and raising funds to support our work. This volunteer also ensures that tabling items, merchandise, and membership information are distributed to other volunteers or locations as needed. The person in this role coordinates with the Chapter Board and Chapter Coordinator to ensure all events are well planned, properly promoted, and ultimately create a net positive impact for the chapter and attendees.
Board Member at Large - voting privileges and a term of 3 years. Weekly time commitment 1-4 hours.
Board Member’s at Large provide general flexibility to the team makeup. This allows volunteers with unique skills and strengths to work with chapter leadership to understand how they can best leverage their talents for our mission. With that said,Board Member at Large members are expected to play an active role in the chapter through direct contributions. This is not an advisory role by any means but a great way to get fully engaged with BHA.
