Andrew Monaghan, Magnolia Springs, AL

Andrew Monaghan grew up in Alabama and has a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He is an avid hunter, angler, paddler, and hiker. Andrew is drawn to BHA’s commitment to public land advocacy, outdoor traditions, and intelligent use. Andrew is an attorney who handles contested litigation and bankruptcy in the state and federal courts of Alabama. Andrew is also heavily involved in community activities including serving as a Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tempore in his local municipality and serving on community non-profit boards. Andrew has led multiple chapter events and stewardship projects, including chapter canoe trips and WMA clean-ups. Andrew believes the Southeast Chapter can and will be an effective and powerful voice for public lands in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, and can make a visible impact through hands-on local stewardship projects.

Vincent Bahm, LA

Vincent is a lifelong outdoor enthusiast.  Starting at an early age by chasing squirrel and coon hounds to running alligator lines and busting creek bottom wood ducks in his late teens. 

His love of the outdoors remains today with hunting turkeys and big game mainly in the woods and swamps of Louisiana and Mississippi and fishing the Gulf Coast with his wife and daughter.  He is a strong advocate for conservation efforts and is committed to helping preserve public hunting land and fisheries for future generations to enjoy. 

Jacob Thompson, LA

Being in the outdoors has been a part of his life. Guided by his father, he grew up hunting small parcels of private land. When he moved away for college, he began learning about public lands and the opportunities they provide for all users. He was no longer limited to a small "back 40", and instead found thousands of acres of freedom. The hunter he is today, and many of the relationships he values most, exist because of public lands and the journeys they made possible. That is why he is proud to be part of BHA, helping ensure these lands and waters remain public.

Adam Berryhill, AL

Hunting and fishing the Tennessee Valley in north Alabama is where Adam connected with the outdoors at an early age. His father instilled a hunting and angling lifestyle in him as soon as he was able to walk and carry a BB gun. While his outdoor efforts mainly include chasing smallmouth bass, he also takes advantage of the public lands around his area to hunt whitetail, turkey, and squirrel. Moving to South Dakota for college and commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska has broadened Adam’s view of the outdoors and revealed to him the need for more awareness and protection of public lands. 

William Strickland, AL

William grew up in Tuscaloosa, shaped by a father and grandfather who spent their lives in the woods and on the water and believed that caring for the land was not optional. That early formation stuck. So did the instinct to be outside.

His path took some turns before it brought him back to conservation work full-time. He played football at Alabama under Nick Saban, earned a civil engineering degree with a focus on water, and later pursued graduate theological study in Arizona while running an international community development nonprofit. Each of those detours, in different ways, deepened his thinking about how people relate to the places they inhabit and what they owe them.

Today, William serves as Executive Director of Mobile Baykeeper, an organization that exists to defend and revive the health of the waters of Coastal Alabama. He’d prefer to be on a public land marsh somewhere along the Gulf Coast, with his Boykin Spaniel, Lily, chasing ducks or redfish. But when life is busy, he can be found at a vise, tying flies for the next trip out.

He joined BHA because the organization reflects something his father and grandfather modeled without ever naming it: that hunters and anglers are obligated to leave things better than they found them. He hopes to pass that same conviction on to his three young children.

Chris White, AL

Chris is a dedicated outdoorsman and conservationist with deep roots in the Southeast. He spent much of his youth hunting squirrels and rabbits on family land in north Alabama, and competed on his high school bass fishing team in the Birmingham area. After graduation, he taught himself whitetail hunting through books, persistence, and plenty of trial and error. Harvesting his first whitetail became a pivotal moment that solidified his lifelong passion for self-reliant hunting and fishing as an anchor in modern life. He also enjoys camping and hiking across public lands throughout the region.

Christopher views these wild places as part of creation and feels a responsibility to protect them as finite, irreplaceable resources for future generations. He is a longtime supporter of BHA and is excited having Ryan "Cal" Callaghan at the helm, particularly its strong defense of public lands, hunter and angler access, and shared outdoor traditions. As a new member of the BHA Southeast Board, he brings fresh energy and focus to growing membership, raising awareness about conservation issues, and inspiring more people in Alabama and across the Southeast to get involved in protecting public lands.

His wife shares his love for the outdoors and fully supports his work with the organization.

Jed Miciak, AL

Jed is a hunter, fly fisherman, and public land user based in Birmingham, Alabama. He has caught fish in 29 states (and counting!) and in countries around the world. In all his travels, he’s found that some of the best outdoor experiences are close to home on public waters and in wild places anyone can access.

He was drawn to BHA because public lands create experiences that are hard to find anywhere else. Whether fishing a local stream with his daughters, hiking a little farther to find quiet water, or chasing elk in the backcountry, he believes these places connect people to the natural world in a real and lasting way.

He is passionate about protecting public access, conserving habitat, and making sure future generations have the chance to hunt, fish, explore, and build their own connection to the outdoors.
