AFI Dual Skills Camp Review

A Participant review from a Dual Skills Camp in California

What is a Dual Skills Camp

From a Participant:

I hope you are having a great weekend.

I just wanted to write a quick note as I am returning from a learn-to-hunt camp at Vandenberg Space Force base focused on invasive species management and how hunters can impact conservation through harvesting Feral hogs with the SoCal AFI detachment.

I wanted you to know how special Reina and Jeremy (AFI leaders in California) are.  I could not have asked for a better introduction to hunting.  They were so supportive, patient, and gracious with not only their time and knowledge but their equipment as well.

I was fortunate to partner with Jeremy in the field, and I learned so much about hunting, from tags and licensing to glassing, to tracking, to proper equipment and gear (Pete was also a great resource showing us what goes into a hunting pack).

I truly feel like I would be comfortable going out on a day hunt by myself now.  Anyway, I had a blast, and I am so thankful I found BHA, especially AFI.  Getting to camp and hunt with strangers and walking away with new friends is priceless. AFI is what the Veteran community is all about.  I can’t wait to go back and do it again.  Thank you for this awesome experience!

About Trevor Hubbs

I grew up running hounds on coyotes and raccoons, spent a fair amount of time public land waterfowl hunting, and have hunted upland birds behind my setters across the midwest.
