event_description: **Due to recent heavy rains at B.K. Leach Conservation Area, we will be cancelling the Working for Waterfowl stewardship day scheduled for this Saturday, 9/28. Please stay tuned as we hope to reschedule Working for Waterfowl in 2025.**Join Missouri BHA on National Hunting & Fishing Day/ National Public Lands Day as we team up with MDC and the Delta Waterfowl Confluence Chapter to Work for Waterfowl! This workday project will continue the work the Missouri BHA Chapter began in 2023. Well spend the day at B.K. Leach Conservation Area getting our hands dirty restoring habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife and improving hunter access and experience on Missouri public lands! Project will include cutting vegetation for brushing blinds, brushing of hunting blinds, building dog box additions to hunting blinds, native seed harvesting, and trash cleanup.*Volunteers must RSVP and Sign Wavier in advance. The first 25 volunteers to arrive at the event will receive a free raffle ticket to win some great gear from Alps Outdoorz!**Water and snacks will be provided during the workday. What you need to know:8:00 AM- Volunteers are to meet up at the Elsberry Community Center (105 S 3rd St. Elsberry, MO 63343) to receive your project instructions. When you arrive, you will sign in and we will connect you with a work group and send your team out into the field. If you are a little early/late, no worries, we’ll get you signed up and plugged in! We will work through the morning and then head back to the Elsberry Community Center for lunch. 12:00PM- Volunteers are welcome to take part in our free lunch or there are many great restaurants within a few blocks (Shooters, Pickle Barrel, AJ’s Texmex and BBQ, Cadillac Bill’s).*Weather conditions should be great, but dress accordingly. There will be water and shade tents up at each worksite.What you need to bring:We have several different projects to work on, and each will require slightly different supplies. Projects choices will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis until needs are met, and then attendees will be assigned.
