event_description: Women in the Woods Waterfowl and Upland Game Camp offers a hands-on two and a half day educational hunting experience. During this workshop participants will learn everything they need to know to start hunting waterfowl and upland game on their own. Our friends at Heritage Sporting Club along with volunteers will provide 2 to 1 mentoring and participants will learn:Hands on shotgun technique instruction and a round of sporting clays to practiceHow to hunt waterfowl with a live hunt and 2 to 1 mentoringHow to push a field with or without dogs with an upland game hunt demonstrationHow your purchase of hunting license and waterfowl stamps funds conservation work in Colorado and across the USHabitat and biology of waterfowl and upland game speciesEverything you need to know about finding and buying gearAnd more!Requirements:This event will take place at a private hunting club in La Salle, Colorado. All participants must:Be aged 18 years or olderProvide their own shotgun and ammunition*Respect all land-use expectations laid out during orientationRespect all participants and facilitators Make safety your first priorityBe comfortable sleeping outdoors in a tentListen to and adhere to instructions from mentors and facilitatorsHave a valid Colorado hunting license with state and federal waterfowl stamps*if you do not own a shotgun or are unable to borrow one, we can arrange one for you to use.Price:Our goal is to make all CO Camp programs inclusive and accessible. The ticket price you pay will goes directly towards the expense of running Camp, and our Colorado chapter will be subsidizing over 50% of the cost to run this camp. After being selected for WitW Fly Fishing Camp, you will be directed to a website where you can pay the $75 fee to secure your spot.This would not be possible without our amazing volunteers and partners, including Heritage Sporting Club, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and all of our folks at Backcountry Hunters and Anglers to give time to make these events happen.Equipment:Packing lists will be sent to the selected participants. In short, you will need to bring clothes (including hunting appropriate clothing), toiletries, and your own camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, camp chair), a shotgun and ammunition.Participant Application: This event is geared towards providing folks with personalized 2 to 1 instruction with our mentors. To that end we are limiting the event to 6-8 total participants. Please fill out the survey here and selected participants will be notified by October 6th.
