Winter 2020 Tennessee Chapter News

The Tennessee Chapter officially kicked off in style with a pint night tour across the state in July. Land Tawney joined Josh Kaywood for the tour, stopping in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis and Nashville. The World’s Greatest Small Game Hunter, Kevin Murphy, and The Hunting Dog Podcast’s Ron Boehme joined in the fun at Nashville’s Patagonia event. Special thanks to all the Public Land Owners and sponsors who made this final night of the tour something special.

Since the Kick-Off Tour the chapter has seen incredible growth. To help manage such growth, prepare for the future and ensure we have workers for the harvest, the current board of directors has grown and become more structured to better use our collective talent. Please continue to watch our website and social media accounts as we pursue our mission across the state.

As has always been the case with Public Land Owners, our greatest strength resides in our boots on the ground. As Land Tawney says, we’re a collection of “doers,” and we’re doing much across the state. We’ve hosted pint nights to spread the word, manned information tables at waterfowl & hunting festivals, and we’ve partnered with film tours such as the Full Draw Film Tour and the Fly Fishing Film Tour. Watch for our booths at multi-disciplinary events that help further our mission and let us know which strategic arenas you believe we should target.

New this year and with great optimism, the Tennessee chapter of BHA is partnering with our TWRA to help increase awareness of – and research into – the growing concern surrounding chronic wasting disease. We’re proud of the relationship we’re building with organizations such as TWRA and we’re optimistic that the future can be bright on this topic if we harness the collective efforts and knowledge of sportsmen and women across our state.
