WHY BHA?
Mary Glaves, AK Chapter Coordinator
It’s #GivingTuesday 2024. The onslaught of attacks to the heritage of public lands in this country defies over a hundred year value system to conserve natural resources. We are nothing without these resources.
“The conservation of natural resources is the fundamental problem. Unless we solve that problem it will avail us little to solve all others.” - Theodore Roosevelt, 1907.
If you know me well, you know I enjoy hunting, fishing, and the outdoors as a lifestyle. The connections created to our shared natural resources, to the folks we hunt and fish with, is enduring, and is my greatest value. Public lands across the nation are being targeted, and Alaska is no different in that regard.
In a world cultured in the ephemeral, give something enduring. Conservation has been, and should remain so, but there are many threats to our public lands, and we still have to solve the fundamental problem.
Giving Tuesday, or giving any day, to our wild public lands, waters and wildlife, is an enduring gift.
Consider a donation to Backcountry Hunters & Anglers so public lands can continue to endure.

A mission without funding is just a good idea, and we rely on the generosity of donors like you to ensure BHA’s meaningful impact as the voice for our wild public lands, waters, and wildlife. Our enduring commitment and tireless advocacy on behalf of the wild places that feed the human spirit, offer solitude and renewal, and provide habitat for a diversity of fish and wildlife species can only happen with your support. All donations are fully tax-deductible and go directly toward our mission-driven work.
