event_description: Springtime is here and theres so much to do! Turkey hunting, foraging and fishing. If you’re fortunate enough to call this part of the state home, then probably one of your favorite springtime pursuits is white bass, and if it’s not, it should be! White bass are native to Kentucky and for generations, Kentucky anglers have pursued them while they are on their spring runs. Since white bass are so embedded in Kentucky’s DNA and are one of our many native fish, Kentucky Backcountry Hunters & Anglers have decided to dedicate a whole pint night to them.We’re going to be joined at this Pint Night by the one and only Lee McClellan. Lee is the associate editor for Kentucky Afield Magazine. He has a strong passion for fishing and is also the author of the award-winning Blue Water Trails series of articles profiling fishing and paddling opportunities across Kentucky. He is also the author of dozens of stories for Kentucky Afield magazine, ranging from how-to stories on fishing or hunting as well as historical and wildlife-focused pieces. Lee is a seasoned veteran when it comes to fishing for White Bass and theres no one better to learn from! We’re not only going to talk about catching them though, we’re also going to discuss the species as a whole from their habitat, spawning patterns and cycles throughout the seasons. For this topic, we will have fisheries biologists from KDFWR who will educate us and answer any questions we may have.Just when you thought this event couldn’t get any better, it does! This pint night will be hosted at the brand new Salt River Brewing Company thats set to open March 1st in Shepherdsville! Salt River Brewing Company is owned and operated by Adam Kelty. Adam is a military veteran and avid hunter and angler himself.
