We need your help to clean up our trout streams!
Fishermen litter specifically ...you know what we’re talking about. We’re reaching out to you because we think you’ll agree that it’s embarrassing.
The West Virginia Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is all about Trash & Trout for the month of March. It’s part river clean up, part awareness campaign.
River Clean Up Event
We’ll be hosting a river cleanup with the Forest Service on the Glady Fork of the Cheat River on March 27.
Meeting Time: 11:30
Location: Meet at the first campsite where the sign for the “Lower Glady Camping Area” is. Here’s a Google location pin.
What to bring: Trash bags, gloves, fishing gear and whatever snacks, drinks or gear you need.
Social Media Contest
We’ll also be running a social media contest throughout the month of March. Here’s what you do:
Go fishing
Pick up trash
Post a photo of your trash haul to the WV BHA Facebook group or tag West Virginia BHA on Instagram and use the hashtag: #trashandtrout
Win prizes for the largest trash haul. Photos that also include trout you caught score higher.
We’ll be handing out prizes at the end of the month:
1st place - Astral Ronnie Fisher life jacket
2nd place - Casting clinic with professional guide and chapter chair Charlie Mooney
3rd place - BHA swag
