Contact event lead Brad Butterfield (contact below) for last minute interest in this weekends event. Water is crucial for Arizona wildlife and livestock alike. We will be improving a decaying dam that feeds numerous water tanks frequented by elk, deer, pronghorn and other critters. This work is being done on Flying M Ranch, part of the Diablo Trust, a stewardship collaborative dedicated to conserving wild things and wild places in Northern Arizona. Work will include adding concrete to the dam and moving boulders and other debris that have choked inflow to the impoundment. Ranch employees will provide all equipment and materials, but please bring work gloves, appropriate work attire, and plenty of water. One or two side-by-sides would also help with moving people and materials to the work site that is inaccessible by heavy equipment.Camping will be available on Diablo Trust or adjacent Coconino National Forest land the night before and during the event. Lunch will be provided both days, and bring something to share Saturday night for dinner. We will meet Saturday morning at 8AM at the Flying M Ranch headquarters before moving to the work site. This stewardship project is limited to 20 volunteer spaces, please RSVP by Sep 5th to reserve your spot!
