event_description: Please join the Colorado BHA chapter as we present a virtual e-scouting seminar on 3/18/2021 at 6:30 PM. Whether you are new to e-scouting and don’t know where to start, or if you’re a seasoned veteran and just want a refresher, there will be useful information for all. We will have 4 speakers that will cover the different platforms and resources available to you, how to find public land (mainly in Colorado), tips for cross-referencing information and doing boots-on-the-ground scouting, as well as things to consider for specific species.Speaker Bios and pictures:Griffin Gilchrist - CO BHA Denver Team MemberGriffin was born and raised on a cattle ranch on the western slope of Colorado. He became a dedicated Gopher hunter after being given his first .22 lever action at the age of 12. Later he began chasing Deer and Elk on public land. Griffin is now a passionate fly fisherman and archery hunter. He plans to go to law school in the fall of 2021 so he can use his degree for conservation.Kassi Smith - Assistant Regional DirectorKassi was born on the west coast of Washington and spent every summer on her grandparent’s farm in eastern Washington. She started fishing and shooting as a kid, then backpacking as an undergraduate in eastern Washington, and started hunting after moving to Idaho for graduate school. Kassi has a doctorate degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Boise State University. She started hunting with her boyfriend, now husband, and said, “We will generally go out at least once per year casually for each small-game species, but big game is where the action is.” She hunts with a rifle, but is “attempting to hunt trad.” Kassi also enjoys fly-fishing for trout in alpine lakes or streams/rivers, but when time is short she’ll throw spinners out in local reservoirs. She joined BHA during 2015, started volunteering in Idaho and currently lives in Lafayette, Colorado.Kellan Johnson - CO BHA Denver Regional DirectorGrew up in Rifle, CO, hunting and fishing on the western slope. Moved away for college and work, and recently moved to Denver and joined BHA. Married in the Fall of 2020, after planning the wedding twice due to Covid and recently got a new pup he’s hoping to train as a bird dog. Likes to spend his free time in the outdoors or planning time in the outdoors doing anything from hiking, fly fishing, archery hunting, or bird hunting. Hoping to meet some new people through the BHA chapter and grow the Denver Regional group as the Regional Director.Ryan McSparran - CO BHA CPW LiaisonRyan grew up in Colorado, exploring local creeks and ponds out his back door, as well as wild places and public lands in the high country. Today Ryan primarily hunts big game throughout the Rocky Mountains. When it’s not hunting season, Ryan enjoys skiing in the winter and fly fishing through the warmer months. Ryan and his wife Kelly live in Littleton, where they enjoy dragging their two kids on all sorts of public lands adventures – from the deserts of the southwest to the Boundary Waters and everything in between.
