Come help BHA, Wilderness Workshop, and the U.S. Forest Service to remove fence from USFS public lands in important elk winter concentration and production habitat July 15 on the Thompson Divide near South Thompson Creek, just South of Carbondale. There will be an opportunity to camp out the night before near the work site and we encourage you to join our BHA Stewardship Coordinator for some cold beverages and a night under the stars (drinks will be provided).
This is a great chance to meet public land owners from around the state while doing a little conservation work in an area we've been working so hard to protect. Lunch and drinks will be provided.
Schedule:
- 8 am: Meet at the work site (39.280278, -107.277028)
- 9:00-3:00: Pull fencing w/ lunch
- 4:30: Optional happy hour at the Marble Distillery
What to bring: Leather gloves (if you have them), safety glasses (sunglasses are fine), and fence tools (pliers, post puller, etc). We will have tools and spare gloves for those who need them. . Please bring a water bottle (there will be a water fill station on site), sunscreen, and proper durable clothing you're not worried about tearing (jeans/carhartts, boots, long-sleeve durable shirt).
