Come out on Wednesday, December 4th at 9:30 AM and join the Kentucky Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers to help assist Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, the Army Corps of Engineers, and Taylorsville Lake State Park staff with a December fish habitat project at Taylorsville Lake! We will be meeting at the Settlers Trace Boat Ramp, located at 1240 Settlers Trace Rd, Taylorsville, KY 40071 at 9 AM and will begin working at 9:30 AM.
The purpose of this project is going to be creating fish habitat in the lake. We will be cutting cedar trees from the bank and then hauling them into the water to create submerged brush piles and resemble natural hinge cut trees. These trees provide excellent habitat for crappie, bass, and many other fish species. There’s no special skill sets needed for this project. If you're willing and able to help, please come on out!
Volunteers are responsible for bringing their own work gloves, warm clothes for working from the shore line or on a boat, snacks and hydrating drinks. Please arrive on time so that we can start working at 9:30 AM! We plan to work until roughly 3 PM but this is always subject to change depending on weather and the amount of work we get done. If you can’t stay for the whole time, that's absolutely fine, just leave when you need to.
We hope to see you there! This is an excellent opportunity to volunteer and give back. We all love catching big fish, so help create the habitat that these fish love. The best part is, this is a public lake and available for everyone and anyone to fish on! Also, depending on the turnout, there may be a chance for some cold ones at a local establishment after all the work is done!
Please RSVP so we know you're coming!
