Do you want to spend a day outdoors giving back to our local habitat and an evening telling stories around a campfire?
Join the Northern leaders of Colorado Backcountry Hunters and Anglers on the second phase of a fence removal work project and campout afterparty in the Stub Creek Cabin area near Glendevey north of Chambers Lake. We will be working along with the
Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the USFS to remove the final section of barbed wire fence from an old range boundary to help improve habitat and re-open corridors for the movement of game.
WHO:
Conservationists of all ages are welcome for both the work day and the camp portion. We will have a dispersed car-camping style area reserved for us nearby the work area at the Stub Creek Cabin horse corral where we can gather later to tell stories, eat good food together, drink a cold beverage, and enjoy a mid summer night. Even if you can’t swing the overnight stay we would love to have the help for the removal. Many hands make light work!
WHAT TO BRING:
It is important to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear for this work day. Long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes or boots, gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses or other glasses qualify) are all required. Bring a hard hat if you have one otherwise one will be provided for you. If you are Forest Service Certified to run a chainsaw your services would be greatly appreciated as this fence will have some blowdown trees laying across it. Community service credit for school or other organizations can be arranged.
MEETING DETAILS:
We will rendezvous in the parking lot at
Ted’s Place at 8:00 AM and convoy to the worksite near Stub Creek together. This work is about two hour’s drive west of Fort Collins so get your friends together for a carpool and let’s do some good!
