event_description: The Pennsylvania Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers will be assisting the Pennsylvania Game Commission with habitat improvement work on State Game Lands 219 in Bradford County on March 9, 2019 and April 6, 2019. The focus of the habitat work days is to create young forest habitat needed by ruffed grouse and American woodcock. Work will consist of felling trees, limbing and bucking downed trees, pruning trees, and constructing brush piles. Work will be facilitated by the PA Game Commission and volunteers from Quality Deer Management Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Ruffed Grouse Society.Volunteers should plan on being outside for most of the day and dress accordingly. Each volunteer will be required to sign a liability release waiver for the PGC prior to participating. Participants are asked to bring tree pruning tools. The PGC will have some tree pruning tools available for participants to borrow. Persons who are planning on felling or bucking trees are required to bring their own personal protective equipment in addition to a chainsaw, fuel, and bar oil. Personal protective equipment consists of a hard hat, ear protection, safety glasses, gloves, chaps, and boots.Please RSVP on this page no later than March 1 for March 9 event.
