Senate Bill 105: "An Act relating to the lease and sale of state land for recreational cabin sites; and providing for an effective date."

POLICY ACTION

Updates from Alaska's 34th Legislature

On February 26th, 2025 Governor Dunleavy introduced legislation Allowing Alaskans to Build Recreational Cabin Sites, Senate Bill 105.

SB 105 presents as an opportunity to obtain land, build your own recreation cabins, and have your own parcel. As hunters, anglers, trappers and outdoors people, this bill further limits our capabilities to enjoy these areas for our outdoor passions and pursuits. This bill is a loss of opportunity for public lands access.

Alaska BHA is opposing this bill. You can, too.

Here's how:

Public testimony will be heard by the Senate Resources Committee on Friday, February 28 at 3:30 p.m. - Rescheduled and heard by committee on Monday March 17th and 3:30 p.m.

  • Juneau residents can testify in person or by calling (907) 586-9085
  • Anchorage residents can call (907) 563-9085
  • Alaskans outside of Anchorage and Juneau can call toll free at 844-586-9085

You can also call your state senators and write the Senate Resources Committee.
