SE Chapter joins the One River, No Lake Coalition

The Southeast Chapter Stands Against a Poorly Designed Proposal:

We are proud to announce that the Southeast Chapter has joined the One River, No Lake Coalition in opposition of the Pearl River One Lake project. This project is an economic development proposition disguised as a flood control plan for the Jackson Metro area in Mississippi. This project is being proposed without a complete Environmental Impact Statement. The ramifications of this project range from habitat destruction, endangerment to protected and endangered species in the Pearl River, decreased flow rates downstream of the proposed lake, and even altered salinity levels in the Gulf of Mexico negatively effecting coastal restoration efforts. If you would like to read more about the project or the coalition, please visit the Pearl Riverkeeper's website.
