Come join BHA volunteers as we help the SCBS & CDFW conduct a Bighorn Sheep Census in the San Gabriel National Mountains!
BHA is continuing our relationship with the Society for the Conservation of Bighorn Sheep and the California Department of Fish & Wildlife by gathering volunteers to help the agency take a census of the Bighorn Sheep population in the San Gabriel Mountains. A mandatory in-person orientation will be held the night before the survey, at 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 1st, at the Angeles National Forest Supervisor’s Office in Arcadia. Early the next morning, volunteers will drive to survey trailheads, then hike to designated observation sites to "glass" for bighorn sheep and record observations. This will be a day spent out on public lands, helping strengthen efforts to continue the successful conservation of an iconic California game species.
