event_description: On Saturday, February 29th, the Texas Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers (BHA) will hold a state-wide public lands clean-up day in locations all across the Lone Star State! The Houston BHA team is partnering with Smile Outside to hold a clean-up day at the Sam Houston National Forest and we need your help. You dont need to be a member of BHA or a hunter or even an angler to participate. Keeping our public lands clean for everyone to enjoy is a common goal we can all support. So bring your friends and family (this will be a kid friendly event) and give back to the public lands we all enjoy! Additionally, we will be hog hunting for conservation after the cleanup. Anyone who cares to join in the effort, be sure to bring your hunter orange vest and hat along, licenses and permits and weapon. Please RSVP below. Meeting Location: Volunteers should meet at 9:00 AM at the Information Station located on Highway 1375 heading West from Interstate 45 (map link here). Please arrive promptly at 9:00 AM so we can caravan to the work-site. The clean-up will begin at 9 and we wont have an official end time, but will finish in time for folks to still hog hunt in the afternoon. - We will provide food and drinks as well as gloves and bags for all volunteers. Please RSVP below to allow us to plan the refreshments and supplies necessary for the event. For more information about Smile Outside (a conservation focused Childrens Book company) or Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, please use these links: (insert links here)If you have any questions, contact Chris Smith at 469-285-6209 or James Jurban at 727-457-7092.
