Join Colorado BHA member Paul Painter and Zach Swennes of Colorado Parks and Wildlife for a Public Land Clean Up. Come prepared to get your hands dirty at Radium SWA (Blacktail Unit) in Grand County. We need to rally our community to join us Saturday, July 22nd from 10-3pm. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
We will be removing old fencing and fence posts on deer and elk winter range. This is a great time to get to know fellow conservation minded folks, members, partners, and chapter leaders from Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Project Location: 39.97989, -106.54306
Meals: Lunch will be provided to all volunteers
What to bring for the workday: Leather gloves, safety glasses (sunglasses are fine). Plenty of water, sunscreen, bug spray, and proper clothing for working outside (jeans, boots, long-sleeve shirt)
Directions: Meet at the Bunkhouse on the Radium State Wildlife Area - Black Tail Unit. Take Grand County Road 11 north (from the Tough Road/ Grand County Road 1), stay right on Grand County Road 11 just north of the river, stay on Grand County Road for 3.2 miles where you will find the Radium Bunkhouse at the coordinates 39.97989, -106.54306. There is no cell phone service in the area so be prepared for a day without phones. (Google maps is unreliable in the area, so if you use it, come in from the Trough Road not Highway 134).
