Spring Migration Celebration, April 26th 2025

by Nate Kibbey

Nearly 100 swans, hundreds of geese, and a wonderful array of multiple duck species all flock to Creamers Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge every spring. The images and feelings that the gaggle of migratory species invoke is indeed worthy of celebration. The Friends of Creamers Field invite multiple wildlife focused organizations to celebrate this wonderful scene and plug the efforts of their organization. Roughly 800 people attended the event.

For the last few years the Alaska Chapter of BHA has attended with the purpose to educate people on our efforts. Thanks to Midnight Sun Fly Casters letting us borrow some rods, we also got to connect with attendees by showing them the basics of fly casting. I had many positive conversations with attendees on topics in the state ranging from our hunting and fishing plans to the impacts of the Ambler Road. Hopefully this outreach will connect Alaskans with our community; Everyone appreciated our attendance.
