We will be assisting Masters student Patrick Kenny with work to improve habitat for the Gunnison sage grouse and other critters by removing some barbwire fencing and attaching flags to other sections to improve visibility.  When:  10/27/24 10am - 2pmWhere:We will meet at the Villa Grove State Trust Land parcel next to Alder Creek on the East side of HWY 285. Initial parking/ meeting place will be approximately 100yds east of Hwy 285 on access roadCoordinates: 38.37048° N, 106.03821° WGoogle Maps direction from Poncha SpringsWhat to Expect:  We will do a brief introduction, work plan, and safety meeting before starting to remove fence. We will continue work until afternoon at some point. BHA will provide lunch/ snacks to volunteers.Anticipated stopping time will be 2pm or as the work dictates. For those interested there will be a complementary soak at Joyful Journey Hot Springs! (15 min south of work site)What To BringLeather gloves, safety glasses (sunglasses are fine), and fence tools (pliers, post puller, etc) if you have them but not necessary. Plenty of water, sunscreen, bug spray, and proper clothing for working outside and removing fence (jeans, boots, long-sleeve shirt). Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
