Two PA Sunday hunting bills introduced for 2025 legislative sessions

Pennsylvania Senate bill SB67, and House bill HB851 were introduced recently and referred to each chamber’s Game & Fisheries Committee. Both SB67 and HB851 would permit the Pennsylvania Game Commission to set all seasons and bag limits including Sundays.

Pennsylvania’s Sunday hunting prohibition has been a barrier to access for generations. By allowing hunters to go afield only half of every weekend, the state is effectively cutting in half the amount of time most hunters have to set aside for the pursuit. This is an undue restraint on working people and families with school-aged children. It is past time to do away with this outdated practice, as nearly every other state in the union has done.

While neither bill has been scheduled for a committee vote yet, members of the Pennsylvania BHA policy team are reviewing the language and working with legislators, legislative leaders, and other NGOs on this important issue.

Pennsylvania BHA expects to call on members and supporters to take action by contacting your legislators if and when either bill is scheduled for voting.  Stay tuned!
