Join Ohio BHA Chapter Saturday April 15th at 10am for this excellent outing to identify and talk about foraging for spring edibles. We will meet at 10am at the entrance to Valley View behind Pattison Elementary School. We will be looking for mushrooms and fresh greens like garlic mustard and nettles, led by area outdoors expert and Ohio BHA chapter chair Dustin Lindley. The group will walk the woods along the East Fork River to forage. The event will most likely wrap up around 1pm after a taste of some garlic mustard pesto and pasta that we’ll prepare together in the field.
Bring some good hiking shoes, a sack of most any type, maybe a walking stick, and your best pattern matching and food finding skills. The terrain we will be covering is moderately hilly, but we will be moving slowly and looking carefully. Dustin will provide a small packet of info about common woodland goodies in the area and will have his trusty Peterson Edible Wild Plants book to help identify unknowns.
This event is weather dependent so please check back for updates. RSVP encouraged.
