Are you curious about hunting deer? Bewildered by the endless array of deer hunting things, asking yourself what is really needed to get it done? Have you tried deer hunting for a couple of years with limited success and want to learn some new skills? Maybe you are a general purpose deer hunting fanatic, and want to hang out and help new hunters along? Come on out and join avid deer hunter and firearms instructor Rob Beckman and Ohio BHA chapter leaders for an afternoon dedicated to the pursuit of our most common and beloved large game animal, the whitetail deer.
Starting at 1 PM, we will go over everything needed to fill your freezer with high quality venison. Together we will follow the course of a deer hunt, starting with preparation: planning and scouting, then safely setting up a tree stand or other blind. From there, we'll move to the various options for method of take, focusing on archery with the opportunity to handle and shoot crossbows, compound bows, and traditional stick and string bows. After shooting, we'll cover field dressing, meat care, and butchering.
Last but certainly not least, we'll go over cooking venison. You'll learn to make fantastic meals that would impress your grandma, and enjoy some delicious venison and beverages, both available for donation. We'll discuss the culture of deer hunting in Ohio and the Midwest, focusing on the long tradition of the deer camp.
We will wrap up about 4 PM, with the hope that when you go, you will enter the woods confident and capable, with all knowledge necessary to safely and ethically harvest a deer. This is a free, but limited entry event so that we can provide all attendees a great experience!
Please RSVP below so that we know you're attending and be sure to share this opportunity with everyone you know!
