The NC State club is close to reaching its one-year birthday with 12 active members and eyes on continued outreach and growth throughout the next semester. They started the semester by focusing on recruitment, tabling at the Wolfpack welcome week where they created visibility for the club and successfully secured five new club members. For Public Lands Month the club hosted a pack out at the Beaver Creek canoe access on Jordan Lake where club and chapter members worked together to pick up and haul out a truckload of trash. Focusing on advocacy, they held a meeting all about LWCF and took action by writing postcards to their representatives. Additionally, their vice-president, Torey Vayer, is taking the lead on R3 initiatives. She helped lead a Getting Started Outdoors workshop for students, an event specifically targeted for college students with no prior hunting experience and with little to no social support of hunting activities. The club helped with peer-supported demonstrations and mentor opportunities, including a mentored hunt. The club will continue to focus on new hunter recruitment programs and showing the importance hunters/anglers play in the conservation role whether it's through Pack Out events, introduction to firearm safety and training, or just getting out for a paddle in the surrounding riverine systems. In recognition of all the work they have done so far and continue to do on behalf of BHA, we are happy to recognize them as the Collegiate Club of the Month for January!
