CHECK OUT OUR RECAP OF THE WEEKEND HERE!

Thank you to our partners at Opportunity Outdoors and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission for helping make our workshop a success!

Have you been interested in hunting but haven't had the chance to learn? Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, in collaboration with Opportunity Outdoors and The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, are offering a free, all-inclusive program that will introduce you to turkey hunting including sessions on firearm safety, access to public lands, ethical hunting, the history of conservation, and how to care for and butcher turkey.

You will arrive on-site Friday evening near the Caswell Game Lands where you will stay for the weekend and meet your fellow classmates and workshop leaders. You'll spend Saturday morning in the classroom learning the ins and outs of hunting turkeys in North Carolina and Saturday afternoon at the shooting range to learn firearm safety and how to pattern a shotgun. Sunday morning, you'll head out for a mentored scout with the folks from Opportunity Outdoors, where you'll go through all the motions of hunting to get you familiar with using your new knowledge afield. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to try different wild game meals that will be provided throughout the weekend.

All participants of this workshop will be eligible to participate in Opportunity Outdoors' Turkey Camp the following weekend, April 8-10. A valid hunting license is not required for this workshop but is required for Turkey Camp.

Fill out the form below to apply. You will be notified on or before March 15th regarding your application to the workshop. You must be able to attend the pre-event meeting (date TBD) or make arrangements to meet with leaders before the workshop to participate.

*Workshop is open to everyone but students and new/novice hunters will be prioritized.

The application period is now closed.
